Schedule in Late Fall

In Edmonds, autumn is a good time for gutter washing and cleaning due to the increased rainfall. Also, by late autumn to early winter, the trees begin to shed their leaves. Many of those leaves are going to find their way onto rooftops. This is why this is the season for gutter maintenance. Having this done before winter prevents backup of water that can freeze and lead to ice dam formation.

Early Spring Cleaning

It’s recommended to schedule gutter cleaning in the transition between winter and spring. Winter showers and storms leave debris that can obstruct the flow of rainwater in the gutter and downspout. Spring cleaning prepares your gutters for the upcoming spring showers.

Monitor Based on Nearby Trees

Is your house surrounded by trees? The presence of nearby trees creates the risk of leaves, twigs, and pine needles getting into the gutters. Edmonds is known for evergreen trees, which can shed leaves and needles quite easily. Having trees close by may necessitate the need for more frequent gutter washing.

After Heavy Storms

The Pacific Northwest climate brings occasional rainstorms. After such events, it’s a good idea to inspect the gutters. Heavy gusts and rain can lead to debris buildup, and addressing this right away can minimize long-term damage or blockage.
